This is generally how we evaluate performance and results.
  • 0-2 months we are looking for qualitative feedback and insights to ensure our videos and message is landing with potential customers.
  • 2-4 months we are starting to see increased engagement and higher quality feedback, comments, shares, and DMs from potential clients.
  • We have had many clients win 6 figure deals during this time frame too (See testimonials/Recommendations for reference)

When considering the cost (Investment) you’ve got to take into consideration four core things: Your time, equipment, postproduction, distribution.
If you’re the one creating the content, then yes, it will cost you your time. And that’s a high value asset, I know. Which is one more reason you need to do this right from the beginning.

In terms of equipment, all you really need now is a smartphone and a quality mic ($100-$200). Price can be driven up or down based on what you would like to add or upgrade here of course. Add on equipment could include any of the following: Lighting, stands, additional cameras, additional mics, etc. Pricing can range from $100 to thousands of dollars depending on the quality of equipment you go with. But again, these are necessarily required to get started.

Postproduction/editing can either be done by hiring a professional editor or doing it yourself. If you hire an editor, it could be anywhere from $8-50/hr. depending on where you source from and how good they are. If you do it yourself, we would recommend a software like Descript, which is around $20-$30/month and uses AI to help edit your videos more efficiency. If you hired a Content Director, they use tools like this and do all of this for you. A highly skilled editor would use professional editing software and do this for you as well. 

Once the video is ready you will either need to distribute the videos yourself (0 cost) or have someone else do it. In many cases, the same person who edits the video, will also distribute it (In the case of a Content Director). A skilled content director is typically in the range of $4,000-$8,000/month. (See below for a breakdown in what they do vs a pure editor.)

A Video Editor is highly skilled at, you guessed it, video editing! For higher level creative editors, they are master story tellers, animators, and can take your video content to the next level. In most cases though, they are not well versed in writing copy, posting on social, and content marketing.

A Content Director oversees all things content and leverages content creation skills along with AI to ideate, create, post produce/edit, and distribute content. They are the all in one solution for a lot of companies. They are not as highly skilled in editing as a Video Editor, but they are much more versatile.

If you hire externally, you’ll likely want to seek referrals, use job boards, freelance sites, and/or leverage LinkedIn to find top talent. You can easily produce 10-20 videos per month in one (60-90 minute) sitting. We call this “Batch recording”. For some of our clients we meet with them (Virtually or in person) for an hour once a month and get 10-20 videos. We also use that same session to create a ton of written/visual content as well. You do NOT need to record videos daily or even weekly if you don’t want to. You can batch record once or twice a month and get all the content you need from that. We also recommend that you repurpose some of your live content as well. This is the raw video from podcasts, interviews, events, meetings, etc. We call this “Documenting” as opposed to the typical “Creating” content.
